General description

The station is located in the valley of a watercourse on the base of the south side of the ‘Sierra de Filabres’ on micaesquistos where the climate is semiarid with mild temperatures. The vegetation is divided in 3 communities situated in altitude layers. The instrumentation is distributed covering 26 ha.

Site history

Rambla Honda activity began in 1989 within a subproject of LUCDEME Programme. The station was consolidated in the framework of consecutive MEDALUS Project funded by the EU and it has worked uninterruptedly since then associated to other research projects. The station is focused to study the interactions between the vegetation, the hydrologic pattern and the geomorphologic processes in a semiarid Mediterranean climate. The basic scientific problem is the answer of seminatural arid territories against the abandonment and the climate change. The work scales cover all the levels from plots to landscape.
